Bree commented, "I love doing this with my kids the night before school starts, we write down 3 goals 1 physical 1 spiritual and one academically. Then we talk and get excited for the new year over a fun meal. It then ends with blessings from Dad. I printed the kids pictures from the summer and we talked about our favorite memories."
Do you find it increasingly difficult to promote an environment of togetherness within your family?
Check out a few things we did this year to make back to school even more special.
The Back to School Meal
End of Summer Trip
Summer travel is something to relish, especially when you have a family of 4. Finding ways to keep things budget friendly this year was no problem. We took a mini road trip to Monterey, CA to visit family. While in the area we stopped by the Monterey Bay Aquarium and enjoyed the local scenery. There is nothing like the smell of ocean air to put everyone in a great mood. Interested in checking out the area for yourself? See my past post on a few other fun places to visit in Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea. And while your there don't leave without stopping by the kid favorite Dennis the Menace Park.
School Year at a Glance Goal Planning
Goal planning for kids and teens can seem more trouble than it is worth. We make a point to help the kids think about their plans for a successful year. Full disclosure here, we certainly don't go through a full SMART goals session especially for the 4 year old. What we do is talk after a snack or during dinner. This provides a no pressure way for the kids to share and be open speaking from the heart.
If you have a special back to school activity your family enjoys please share. We wish you a GREAT school year.
