Health and Fitness is a very personal thing. Many would agree finding a way to minimize time and effort while staying consistent with a fitness regimen is a constant stuggle.
Regular workouts provide not only physical wellness, but also brain boosting benefits. While I haven't perfected consistency, keeping up the effort has kept my fitness journey on the move.
In high school I noshed on chocolate bars, soda, and lots of carbs. Your average teen right? Exercise outside of mandatory PE was not a priority.
I always had "meat on my bones", but never fretted about exercise. Things changed about Junior year of High School. Oral surgery became the highlight of my Winter Break. The scene consisted of a visit to the Oral Surgeon's office to endure extraction of all four wisdom teeth. This oral surgery procedure led to, an allergic reaction to pain meds and anesthesia.
The whole experience was a two week ordeal and I returned to school a bit less heaver. While I don't recall how much I weighed or lost, when returning to school classmates commented on how "thin" I looked. I was grateful to have survived the oral surgery, and this led me to think differently about my health.
Though I began to care more about my weight and fitness, adopting a minimalist approach made creating a healthy lifestyle managable. Life is hectic. Does a commitment to fitness have to be complicated. I say no!! But, having said that there has to be some level of commitment right.
I keep it simple by incorporating Fitness Blender workouts and simple walking. The idea of a 10 minute high impact, or 20 – 30 minute low impact workout means I can get healthy in less time.
If you haven't checked out this great resource your missing out. It may seem odd that during workouts there is no audio. I've come to appreciate the time to concentrate on my body and wellness.

So how do I stay motivated to workout? A few things help me with this.
1) Listening to my body. It never fails, if I miss too many workouts I feel BAD. Tight muscle, the pounds creeep up and I am more anxious. Short workouts are always a better approach than no workouts
2) Self talk. We all do it right? Self talk with positive reminders of why working out is important. Also knowing my families medical history I have to remind myself of what can happen if I don't get my workout schedule on course. Try it, it helps.
3) My kids. Let's face it, if Momma isn't healthy everyone suffers. Being healthy and available to my kiddos is important to me.
That's all I got. The above simple motivators keep me pushing to be a healthier me. The goal is not to be a model size, rather a healthy size.
Benefits of exercise go beyond the obvious improvement to our outside aesthetic. Whatever approach to fitness remember to keep it simple.
How do you stay healthy? Any favorite workouts to share?
Wishing you good health,
Jenelle
Oh high school how I miss thee, it was so simple, eat whatever, don't workout and never gain weight! Those were the days! lol So favorite workouts? As of now I love the 21day fix videos, all 30 minutes and high impact. 30 minutes is all I have so it gets me to where I wanna be.
30 minute workouts are the best! Definately keeping the workouts going right into 2016.
Your post is a great reminder and an inspiration to me to keep doing short bursts of exercise rather than no exercise. I have a baby girl (7 months and 4 weeks old). Getting back to my pre-baby workouts hasn't happened and I've recently come to the realization that it won't happen. I need to adapt my workouts to my new schedule. The key…simplicity and consistency…as you shared.
To stay healthy I manage my diet, take supplements such as vitamins and exercise. These days exercise is walking and doing exercises with my baby. Also, while I am house cleaning, I will put baby Anita in the Miby carrier and do my chores…this gives me a workout plus I clean my house at the same time!!
That’s so great adding baby to workouts helps. Good health to you Wendy!
