This cover photo shows tulips with one of my fave colors of orange. Love it!!
Living in Northern California certainly has it's advantages especially around Spring time. We enjoy very moderate weather year round and this time of year is especially wonderful. It never fails when Spring comes around there is a renewed energy and commitment to fitness and overall wellness. It even seems my family is more bubbly and talkative than usual.
Does Spring have the same effect on you? I'm sure it must.
Along with the yearly Spring cleaning and purging around the house, I take this time to reset goals and intentional habits to see me through the remainder of the year.
See below my Spring Reset goals:
(1) Make fitness a daily habit
(2) Supplement my diet with a protein shake
(3) Increase toning exercises by doing light weights.
Simple right!! Fitness for me has nothing to do with a dramatic diet or wasting hundreds in gym memberships. Raising kids and finding time to get moving means staying flexible and home workouts allow for this.
During my journey it just complicates and frustrates my overall progress when I have the additional stress of getting to the gym. Childcare has been an issue for most of my mothering days so I took the pressure off myself and committed to home workouts.
After having my daughter in 2010 I was well over 200 lbs. Only working out when I had to and staying in bed were a recipe for increased prenatal weight gain. Changes were definately needed after delivery and I was committed to getting healthy. Slowly but surely we transitioned through breastfeeding, a busy home life with the new baby home and increased activity gradually. The breastfeeding definately helped!
A practical way I've incorporated daily fitness is to walk. Walking just after dawn with my daughter once done with her morning routine has been our habit for some time now. Daily AM walks serve the dual purpose of helping her get the morning wiggles out, and secondly it adds a heartrate boost and quick calorie burn for Mom.
Win, win for everyone!!
Being available to my little one has been a HUGE blessing. I try to make the best of our time together and keep myself as healthy as I can. We've had so much fun taking in nature, chatting it up and working to stay healthy. As she enters Transitional Kinder the memories we've created I hope will encourage her to keep a healthy lifestyle well into her adult years.
So that's it for me! What are your current fitness goals?
