Everyday I wake there are a myriad of things on my mind to accomplish. Sure a to do list would be nice, but I've realized this classic method just isn't serving me at this time.
So the day starts with connection for me. Connect with myself, through stretching or meditation and prayer. Connect with my hubby over a cup of tea or simple conversation. Connect with my son by listening to his latest woes. Connect with my daugther by sharing lots of cuddles and an AM walk.
LOVE these moments!
Spring has arrived and I've been reminded of a few things. What matters is living. With each victory, celebrate. Feeling the wind on a blustery day. Listening to your kids chatter about the world from their perspective IS important. Helping others in the best way possible whether in word or action is worth making time for.
During a Twitter exchange with a friend I received a link to a post called To the Parents Who Don't Feel Like They Can Get it All Done originally featured on the Huffington Post.
We race around doing what seems important, but then are reminded of what really matters. I daily choose what to do aiming to accomplish 3 important things then fitting in everything else as needed. Sure sometimes I don't get it all done. Still when the day ends im confident I did what REALLY mattered.
Our family is shifting. The little one starts Transitional Kinder this year. Our teenager will be a Senior next school year. And I've been focused on a small business and other pursuits.
As we each move through our journeys my plan is simple for our family.
(1) Stay connected
(2) Nurture the soul
(3) Live fully
Keeping families strong and connected is a daunting task in this digital age. By focusing on what REALLY matters I am encouraged the efforts will achieve success.
How do you keep doing what matters a priority for yourself or family? Ready to hear your suggestions…
xoxo,
Jenelle
